Good to Know: The T-Program
The Faculty offers the Transition Program (T-Program), which allows students who fall behind in the Fall session of First Year to immediately address their problem areas. The program has been a great success in helping many students quickly catch up to their classmates.
Students in the T-Program are able to redistribute their workload over the year. So for example, a student in the T-Program would be able to repeat up to three of their Fall session courses in the Winter session, and defer some of their First Year courses to the Summer Session (May and June). Students then return to regular classes in Year 2 without losing any time in the four-year engineering degree.
In addition, students receive extra instruction to strengthen areas of concern or difficulty and meet with the First Year Counsellor to discuss course selection and progress.
The T-Program is in place to help struggling students get back on track to successfully complete their First Year curriculum without falling behind in their studies. However, it is not a replacement for academic counselling throughout the session.
The First Year Office is always available to answer any questions or concerns you may have about your studies in Engineering. We strongly encourage you to approach us early, so that together, we can identify your needs. If you prefer one-on-one assistance, you can book an appointment with the First Year Counsellor. The first year office can be reached at 416-978-4625.
