Faculty Spotlight: Glenn Hibbard

glenn hibbard

Professor Glenn Hibbard specializes in all things related to materials engineering. Professor Hibbard’s passion for teaching and bringing hands-on learning to the classroom (students sometimes make silly putty in class with wood glue and borax) earned him the Engineering Society’s prestigious Teaching Award for the 2006-2007 school year.

When he’s not teaching in the classroom or spending extra time with students, he’s working in his laboratory doing research on Nanoengineering. One of his current projects involves using nanotechnology to create new lightweight and durable materials for use in outer space.

Outside of the Faculty, Professor Hibbard loves to spend time scuba diving, traversing mountains on his bike and gliding down hilltops on his skis. Next time you see him, ask him about his amazing scuba diving trip to Belize!
