Faculty Spotlight: Susan McCahan
Susan McCahan is not only one of the first professors many of you will meet here in Engineering at U of T, she is also the Chair of First Year. Professor McCahan oversees both the academic and non-academic aspects of life as a First Year student in U of T Engineering. She is involved in all aspects of your First Year experience; not only does she meet with your First Year professors for regular updates on how each course is going, she even works with your F!rosh Week leaders to make sure the activities you take part in are both safe and fun.
Apart from her duties as Chair, she will also be one of your First Year professors. Professor McCahan teaches the Engineering Strategies & Practices course for all Track One and Core 8 First Year students.
Professor McCahan is an award winning Faculty member in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. When she’s not thinking of ways to improve the First Year experience, she’s doing research on energy systems, exploring volcanoes, not to mention baking her famous brownies!
