Student Services Profile: Counselling and Learning Skills Services (CALSS)

The Counselling and Learning Skills Service (CALSS) is a professional counselling service for University of Toronto students. CALSS provides students with academic counselling support, such as learning skills counselling, as well as counselling for personal issues.

The CALSS learning skills programme includes lectures and individual consultation on such issues as time management; exam preparation and exam writing; the reading of course materials; note-taking on lectures and course materials; concentration; memory strategies; procrastination; motivation; stress management and other aspects of study.

If you have specific concerns about personal issues such as university adjustment, anxiety, depression, addictions, stress, CALSS provides personal, confidential, one-on-one counselling, learning skills programs, anxiety workshops and assault counselling. Topics for other workshops offered by CALSS include: time management, exams, textbook reading, and concentration. Finally, the CALSS Assault Counsellor/Educator provides services regarding crisis counselling, psychotherapy, education, consultation, referral and court accompaniment. This service is available for students who are in crisis as a result of verbal, physical, and/or sexual assault, childhood abuse, and other forms of abuse or violence.
